The name, "Church of Israel," is the New Covenant identification and name of the "Congregation of Israel" of the Old Covenant. Jesus told his disciples, "I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel" (Matt. 15:24). The sign that would for ever identify these people of God is the seventh day Sabbath, which Jesus and his disciples all kept. Christianity generally kept the seventh day Sabbath for the first three centuries, after which it was discarded in favor of the pagan day of worship called Sunday. With the identification mark of the seventh day Sabbath restored, the modern "Church of Israel" has reclaimed a piece of her heritage that goes all the way back to Mt. Sinai with the giving of the Ten Commandments. We are humbled to be the literal descendants of those ancient Israelites, and hope never again to lose the sign that marks us as such, the seventh day Sabbath.
